Description
Located near Lake Harris in Leesburg, Florida. This little guy nicknamed "swamphen" walks like a chicken, only it has toes that appear to be half the length of it's body to walk on top of floating vegetation. These birds are considered monogamous, however outside of breeding season they spend most of their time alone. They are not strong fliers and spend most of their time swimming, or walking across lily pads and other floating vegetation. If disturbed they hide quickly. There life span is approximately 22 years.
