Description
This juvenile male cardinal is perched on a branch showing off his emerging adult red feathers. The northern cardinals get their color from the fruits and seeds that they consume. These fruits and seeds are rich in carotenoid pigments that are responsible for the red coloring of northern cardinals. Red cardinals are symbolical to many people. Some believe that it means a loved one who's passed is near. Others believe cardinals can relate to strength and transformation in your life.
