Description
Pileated woodpeckers are loud. In fact before I knew what they were, they sounded like monkeys you hear in the trees at the zoo.
I have nicknamed him (sure it's not always the same one), Woody. I can hear him in the woods long before he gets close. This is a male. Females do not have a solid red head of long hair. The forehead section is black.
