Description
The tongue of a woodpecker can extend two inches beyond it's beak. This is how they are able to get bugs out of the crevices of trees, fences and woodpiles. Unique fact: Their tongues when retracted wrap around their skulls.
This photo was taken in Franklin, Tennessee.
